Enable access from remote hosts in Pentaho

Pentaho Business Intelligence Suite listens by default on localhost port 8080.

To allow access from remote clients other than localhost you need to edit the configuration file <pentaho-home>\tomcat\webapps\pentaho\WEB-INF\web.xml replacing the default string

<context-param>
  <param-name>fully-qualified-server-url</param-name>
  <param-value>http://localhost:8080/pentaho/</param-value>
</context-param>

with something like this

<context-param>
  <param-name>fully-qualified-server-url</param-name>
  <param-value>http://your server host or ip address:8080/pentaho/</param-value>
</context-param>
Now restart Pentaho BI server and your remote clients should have access pointing the browser to http://<your_server_host_or_ip_address>:8080

To change the dafault 8080 port edit the file and replace the number 8080 with a new port number. Remember to restart the server to apply the changes, and be sure there are no firewalls blocking the selected port.
